Focus groups and paid surveys are similar but the difference is this; In focus group you need to be experienced or have more knowledge about the subject and get along with it.
A Focus Group is a group of people who come together to give their interests, opinions, advice towards a product, service, notion, marketing, advertisement and so on.
Unlike paid surveys that asks questions with yes or no option. In focus groups, you will be invited to participate in discussions or share your opinions and insights on a product or a service been recorded as a video on your smartphone, tablet, desktop or webcam.
On payment basis, focus groups pays more than paid surveys but have an expectation from you which is to have some knowledge and experience about the topic or subject and expect such opinions and insights from you for them to develop or improve the shape of their product, service, and so on.
